Bright Ukpabi, better known as Mr. Dutch is a young Afro-Pop musician who burst onto the scene with hits such as Antidote, Better Soup and E No Finish featuring Burna Boy.
His motivation stems from his sheer tenacity that comes from exuding who he is and where he comes from. He represents not only Nigeria but Africa as a whole. Arriving in South Africa with the intention to expand his music and to make more structured connections, Mr. Dutch draws inspiration from being African and wants the rest of the world to experience this beauty through his music and experience. He believes he is educating strangers on a culture that is deep-rooted in Africa’s sound and it beats with the ebb and flow of everyday life.
Mr. Dutch creates music by understanding the culture of the continent, by doing this, he believes it is very easy to produce meaningful projects that are truly felt by its listeners. In his words said that he makes music to give hope to the hopeless. “I describe my music as ‘Afro Futuristic Sound’. A fusion of afrobeat and other genres of music. I always tell people I’m an ‘Afro Cyborg’ but that doesn’t make me a computerized machine. It just means I’m exceptional, a different being. A lot of people feel because they didn’t go to school they can’t be successful. A lot of people have lost hope in themselves for different reasons. My music, entire brand, and lifestyle are to motivate such people to understand that they can achieve whatever they put their mind and work towards.
Mr. Dutch recently released ‘Keys To My Heart’ on the 7th of February 2020 a few days before the world most celebrated St. Valentine’s day in celebration for love. A song that describes the extent of not giving up that every lover should go in connecting and waiting for their lovers. An Epic Story of a long walk journey to the fulfillment of a Union, compromising all most important values and walking the walk, rather than just talking the talk. ‘Keys To My Heart’ gives you a soulful sound to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything in love.
The thought of giving up should never come to mind, even if it might be the only thing that you are holding on to, don’t do so.”
