As expected, Davido starts up 2017 with the release of the hotly-anticipated “If” produced by Tekno. “If” serves as Davido’s first release since the release of “Son of Mercy” EP.
He decides jump on a Tekno made beat and he calls this one ‘IF‘ a classic love number. From the word ‘go’ on this song, you begin to reminisce on a very familiar tune… You probably guessed it right! Sounds like Lagbaja hit track “Gra Gra”.
The chorus of the song says “no do, no do… no do serere o! no do… no do, no do shakara! no do, no do… no do gra gra!”
Recently, the Nigerian musicians have started to go back to basics, drawing inspiration from previous great musicians of old. Just recently, it was Burna Boy on the remix of Temper with Skales picking up the lines “everybody run run run, everybody scatter scatter” from Fela’s 1977 hit track – “Sorrow, tears and blood” and now, its Davido.
