Zynovox: The Rising Star Bridging Afro-Urban Rap Between Nigeria and the UK

Published

on

Meet Zynovox—Obinna Norbert Aziude—a dynamic new force in Afro-Urban Rap who is rapidly reshaping the music landscape across Nigeria and the UK. With his bold fusion of raw lyricism, infectious beats, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity, Zynovox is turning heads and winning hearts in a genre hungry for fresh voices and genuine stories.
From his early days in Enugu, Nigeria, Zynovox’s journey has been one of grit and transformation. Initially dabbling in rap in 2011 with the Better Get Best (B.G.B.) crew, he encountered setbacks and skepticism—from early studio rejections to personal sacrifices that saw him hide his passion from family and peers. Despite these obstacles, Zynovox pursued higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture from ESUT and going for his master’s degree in the UK. Yet, the call of rap was too strong to ignore. In 2024, after years of introspection and renewed determination, he returned to music, determined to share his truth and create his own success.
Zynovox’s sound is a powerful blend of Afrobeat-infused rap, soulful R&B hooks, and the rhythmic pulse of UK urban music. His music reflects the duality of his experiences—melding the raw, emotional storytelling of his Nigerian roots with the innovative, boundary-pushing energy of the UK scene. “I believe that every bar I spit is a reflection of my journey—each track a piece of my story,” says Zynovox. His lyrics are deeply personal, drawing on themes of struggle, resilience, love, and ambition, making his music both relatable and inspiring for a new generation of fans.

Since his official return to music in late 2024, Zynovox has been steadily building momentum. His debut single, “Glory Bound”, marked a triumphant return to the rap scene—a track reimagined with integrity after overcoming industry setbacks. Now, in 2025, he has his highly anticipated EP, Middle East The EP, set to be released February 7, 2025, to showcase his sonic journey through life’s ups and downs. Produced in collaboration with renowned talents such as Blaque Beats, MF Classic, and Omofaaji, Middle East The EP is to unfailingly showcase his versatility with a fusion of rap, Afrobeat, R&B, and Amapiano elements. The project is not only to mark his creative milestone but a declaration of his intent to build a lasting legacy in Afro-Urban music.
“Every challenge I faced was a lesson that made me stronger,” Zynovox reflects. “My music isn’t just sound—it’s my truth. With Middle East The EP, I want to inspire anyone who’s ever been doubted to rise above and create their own destiny.”
Industry insiders who know Zynovox based on his track record of delivering an innovative approach with his authentic storytelling can’t wait for the release of this EP. As they followed his journey from freestyle sessions in Enugu to his new identity of being an internationally acclaimed versatile artist, this identity resonates with these insiders and the audiences alike who crave genuine, heart-felt music that speaks to real-life experiences.
As Zynovox is preparing to promote his EP, Middle East, hip hop fans will be surprised for the next chapter in his story as they get to experience how his unique blend of Afro-Urban rap and a sound that bridges cultures like Zynovox is poised to become a household name among Nigerian and UK rap enthusiasts.

Meet the Man Who Turned Hype Into a Science: Emmy Blaq, Nigeria’s G.O.A.T. of Hype

Published

on

If you have ever been at a Nigerian event and found yourself on your feet before the main act even stepped on stage, there is a good chance a hype man was responsible. But not just any hype man. Emmy Blaq, born Ikechukwu Emmanuel Chima and raised in Auchi, Edo State, has spent the last few years quietly becoming the most talked-about name in that profession, and the Nigerian press has taken notice. Punch, Vanguard, The Guardian Nigeria, The Nation, and Independent Newspaper have all sat down with him, and every conversation leads back to the same thing: this man does not just make noise; he makes moments.
What makes Emmy Blaq different is the journey behind the energy. Before the stages, the collaborations with Waje on her “Waje 2.0” album, DJ Consequence, and DJ Kaywise on the massively streamed “Joor Party Mix” series, he was repairing generators, cutting hair, and sewing clothes in Auchi. His first professional hype gig happened at a local fast food spot called Valchi, and the crowd response that night changed everything. He told The Nation directly: “My passion for entertainment and desire to make people happy led me into the craft.” Punch also captured his bigger mission when he said that hype men deserve more than what they currently earn, a statement that sparked a real conversation across Nigerian entertainment circles.
With over 1.7 million TikTok followers, 23.6 million TikTok likes, a viral “Wife Material” challenge that landed on Pulse Nigeria’s top ten social media moments of 2021, and an international performance at the Cameroon International Music Festival that Cameroonian media described as electrifying, Emmy Blaq is not building toward something. He is already there. The G.O.A.T. of Hype is not a title he gave himself and hoped would stick. It is one the rooms keep confirming every single time he grabs the mic.
