1. Kaduna State government, on Wednesday, released fresh conditions that must be met before it will allow the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat to travel to India for medical treatment. This was made known in a statement issued on Wednesday evening, Kaduna state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, assured members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that he would be more conscious of the interests of the party in taking key decisions. According to his Special adviser, Femi Adesina, Buhari spoke while receiving members of the NWC of the APC at the State House in Abuja. Buhari pledged to uphold party supremacy and commended the National Chairman , Adams Oshiomhole, and other members for their sacrifices and overall success in the last general elections in the country.
3. The police on Wednesday announced the killing of three officers and severe injuries on other personnel after Nigerian soldiers opened fire on a police team in Taraba. The incident occurred along Ibi-Jalingo Road, police said. The officers were of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT). According to a statement by police spokesman, Frank Mba, one Felix Adolije, an assistant police superintendent, led the officers to the state to arrest a suspected kidnap kingpin whom the police identified as ‘Alhaji Hamisu.’ Mba said the police officers came under sudden attack and serious shooting by soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
4. The Nigerian Army on Wednesday explained the circumstances leading to the killing of three police officers and a civilian in Taraba State by its men. In a statement on Wednesday night by Colonel Sagir Musa, its Acting Director of Public Relations, the army accepted responsibility for the killings. It, however, explained that the killings were done in error following a distress call that some suspected kidnappers who happened to be the police were on the run with their victim.
5. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday assented to the National Biosafety Management Agency (Amendment) Act, 2019, with a view to preventing any adverse effect to human health and environment in the country. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on the National Assembly (Senate), Sen. Ita Enang, confirmed this development in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday. Enang said the bill amended the National Biosafety Management Agency Act No. 20, 2015 to enlarge the scope of application of the Act by including the emerging aspects of modern biotechnology and biosecurity in the country. According to him, the Amendment empowers the Agency to put in place measures to ensure Bio-Security across the country.
6. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, on Wednesday, reacted to the Revolution Now protest called by former African Action Congress, AAC, presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore. Oshiomhole said Sowore called for a revolution because he lost his bid to become President during the 2019 presidential election. Addressing State House Correspondents after a meeting of the APC National Working Committee, NWC, with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, Oshiomhole said Sowore had the right to protest but must properly articulate his grievances.
7. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, said that he will work with the relevant constitutional bodies to resolve the crisis rocking the Houses of Assembly in Bauchi and Edo states. A statement sent to Reporters on Wednesday by Femi Adesina, said that the President stated this when he received in audience, members of the Bauchi House of Assembly, as well as other stakeholders in the State. He promised to liaise with the Minister of Justice when sworn in, and the Inspector General of Police, to ensure that the rights of
the constituencies and individuals were not abused in any form.
8. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday lamented that Nigeria was collapsing under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. PDP claimed that the rising uncertainties and the issue of insecurity, biting economic hardship as well as prevailing tension in all parts of the country was an indication that Nigeria was gradually collapsing. The party stated this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan.
9. The traditional ruler of Obom-Agbogugu of Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Igwe Sunday Orji on Wednesday regained his freedom. News reports that the monarch was abducted alongside his wife, Alice, last Sunday. Spokesman of the Police in the State, SP Ebere Amaraizu confirmed their freedom. “Yes, they have been freed, it’s true,” he told our correspondent.
10. The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, sacked Emeka Nwajiuba, a lawmaker representing Ehime Mbano /Obowo/Ihitte Uboma Federal Constituency of Imo State. The court declared Chike Okafor as the winner of the House of Representatives seat.

1. President Bola Tinubu will address the nation in a broadcast today, Sunday, August 4, 2024. Mr Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced this in a statement, on Saturday, saying the broadcast would hold at 7am.
2. The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Yusuf Lawal, on Saturday confirmed the killing of four persons along Baga Road in Maiduguri, Borno State during the nationwide #EndBadGoverment protest. He said Boko Haram elements infiltrated the protesters and killed four persons on Thursday with explosives at a filling station.
3. Many persons have been feared killed while others sustained injuries as hoodlums clashed with security operatives in Kano. It was gathered that Rijiyar Lemo, Kurna to Bachirawa areas in Fagge Local Government, Kofar Nassarawa in Kano municipal and Unguwa Uku area of Tarauni Local Government are the worst hit areas.
4. The leadership of the organised labour, on Saturday, warned the Nigeria Police Force and other security forces to stop what it described as a “massacre” of protesters carrying out nationwide demonstrations against hunger in the land.
5. Leading Human Rights group, Amnesty International Nigeria, has said over 50 protesters were arrested in Abuja on the third day of the demonstration against hardship in the land.
6. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has urged the police and other security agencies to stop shooting and killing protesters demanding good governance in Nigeria. Atiku in a statement on Saturday, questioned the professionalism of the security agencies in the handling of the ongoing demonstrations.
7. Some of the organisers and supporters of the ongoing protest have set up pages to raise over N4bn through GoFundMe, a popular online crowdfunding platform. A check on Saturday showed that a total of N4.1bn had been benchmarked to be donated through accounts created by three GoFundMe users.
8. Tragedy struck again in Imo State on Saturday evening when some gunmen reportedly shot dead the President-General of Umucheke Okwe autonomous community in Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State, Hyginus Ohazurike. Six village heads from the autonomous community were also allegedly killed by the gunmen.
9. The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh has said his men were not responsible for the death of a teenager in the Kubwa area of the FCT. In a viral video, a man claimed that police, while dispersing protesters, shot dead a teenager in the Kubwa area.
10. The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu has said President Bola Tinubu is keeping an eye on the ongoing #EndBadGovernance demonstrations across the country.
