Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian newspapers:
1. President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday expressed confidence that Nigeria is resolutely on the road to a new dawn, stressing that the country will no longer be a by-word for corruption.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President said this while commending two security men who returned a handbag filled with valuables forgotten at the Murtala Muhammed Airport by an American returnee.
2. Mr. Sunday Ogunniyi, the Special Assistant on Environmental Services to the Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has resigned his appointment.

4. The Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi has said it will now pardon Yinka Ayefele because of his appeal and not because he is physically challenged.
According to the governor, being physically challenged doesn’t give anyone the right to break the law, hence his reason to bring down Ayefele’s Music House worth N800m.
5. The Benue State government has reacted to a recent statement credited to Garus Gololo of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association demanding the resignation of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The state government wondered why a mere breeders’ association could call for the resignation of the number three man of the nation when it was not a political party.
6. Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party will win the 2019 presidential elections.
Saraki said that the victory of PDP at both federal and state levels would be beneficial to all the members.
7. Senators Isa Misau and Rafiu Ibrahim have said Nigeria will be a better place if the All Progressives Congress devotes more time to solving the nation’s myriad of problems instead of dissipating energy in the quest to pull down the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
They also cautioned the APC against fomenting trouble when the Senate eventually reconvenes because the party would meet its match should it decide to breach the peace.
8. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has warned politicians in the country against violence as preparations for the 2019 general elections heat up.
The monarch, also advised politicians in Osun State against violence as political parties were preparing for the September 22 governorship election in the state.
9. The Peoples Democratic Party has told President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerians will not be swayed by his claim that he walked 800 metres to demonstrate his health status and thereby ready for second term in office.
Rather, the party said Nigerians would be looking for a competent and a knowledgeable President, who it said must have the capacity to tackle many problems facing the nation.
10. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday gave President Muhammadu Buhari “24 hours to arrest leaders” of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN over its threat that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki should resign his position or be forced out.
PDP said should Buhari fail to order the arrest of MACBAN leaders and commence their prosecution, Nigerians will hold him responsible for the actions of the group, going forward.

From Studio to Spotlight: Meet Espago, the 2025 Breakout Artist Shaping Afro‑Fusion

At 31, Lagos-born Espago is redefining what it means to be a late bloomer in the Nigerian music
space. After spending years as a chef, designer, and farmer, Espago turned to music just a year
ago on a journey sparked by deep loss, life experience, and self-discovery.
What makes him different? It’s not just his sound, it’s his story. Espago brings a calm but
confident energy that mirrors his Lagos upbringing: a blend of vibrant Fuji rhythms and soulful
Afrobeat traditions like King Sunny Ade, shaped by global legends like Michael Jackson and
Celine Dion. His voice? Professionally trained. His brand? Stylish, grounded, and intentional.
Espago didn’t wait for the industry to find him; he found his own way in, teaching himself,
searching out producers, and building his identity from scratch. With no major label backing and
no big-name features, he has still built a brand marked by boldness, emotion, and Lagos street
authenticity.
He’s not just making music; he’s building a lifestyle brand. His creative roots are in food,
fashion, and music fused into something richer than just a “sound.” It’s a full experience. While
he hasn’t performed live yet, he’s putting in the work behind the scenes, mentoring new artists,
recording regularly to sharpen his voice and brand for bigger stages ahead.
In a scene dominated by speed, Espago’s journey is about intentional growth, honest
expression, and emotional connection.
As the new class of Afro‑HipHop begins to take shape, Espago stands out not just for what he’s
making, but for who he is becoming.
