South South Music Awards Organizer, Andy Bello Gets Death Threats | READ
Andy Bello Gets Death Threats
The founder of South-South Music Awards (SSMA) and C.E.O of Lockdown Entertainment, Andy Bello is currently running for his life following series of death threats he has received after the the 9th edition of the South-South Music Awards (SSMA) which was held at the Ekinadoese Event Hall (inside Randekhi Gold Hotel), GRA, Benin City, Edo State on December 3, 2017.
Surprisingly, a day after the award ceremony, Mr Bello started receiving death threats from unknown individuals who felt their artists/brands deserves more than just a nomination from the organizers.
Bellow is what Mr Bello has to say about the threats..
“Everything is happening as a result of the South-South Music Awards that I organise annually. Before now there have been cases were people beep me on social media, saying nasty things because they were nominated and did not win, or did not get nominations. This time around it was not what I expected because I got a phone call first that I should be careful that some people are planning to put the heat on me. This was a day after the last edition of the award which held in Benin city December 3, 2017”.
“The next day I was not in the office because I was still tired after the event. I was surprised I got a call from my secretary telling me some men came to the office to look for me and it’s like they knew the direction where my office was because my secretary said they were just asking ‘where is Andy Bello’, my secretary told them I was not around and they replied ‘tell him that he can’t hide.
“After this incident I knew this was serious so I went to the divisional police on the 5th of December to report and then the next day I was driving along Okpa road in Benin then a Toyota Camry car just drove close, I was wondering what was going on, the next thing I heard was pack but I refused. They winded down, what I saw looked like a barrel of a gun. Could this be policemen? no, so I increased my speed but they chased me. I called the police and reported the incident, I got a police extract and then I moved my wife and children out of the house because I knew it was not safe for them”, Bello lamented.
Asked if he has any suspect, Mr Bello replied: “No one in particular but I suspect everybody because I really don’t know who is after me particularly. I don’t know why they are taking the award personal, Bello.
Mr Bello said that his life is at risk, noting that he has not slept in his house neither has he gone to his office after the award ceremony due to the death threats he has been receiving.
Speaking further, the Lockdown Entertainment boss, states that those after his life feel he makes all the decisions regarding South-South Music Awards but the reverse is the case.
“They feel I take all the decisions regarding South-South Music Awards but they don’t know it does not work that way, it is not a one-man show”
Asked if the police have been able to offer any assistance Bello said: “yes they are working. The police are investigating the matter. They are doing the best they can”.
When asked if he has anybody he had a disagreement in the past with that can be linked to the recent death threats, Bello said: “None that I can recall. The call I received and the messages I got all pointed to the award. They said I am playing God”
