BREAKING: Gunmen Storm Niger State, Kill 6, Steal 700 Cattle
– Unknown gunmen suspected to be cattle rustlers have killed 6 in Kukoki community
– The gunmen reportedly stormed the community and made away with about 700 cattle
The Kukoki community, Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger state has been attacked by some suspected cattle rustlers.
Mark Jagaba, the council’s chairman, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, November 16.
Jagaba told newsmen in Minna that the attack lasted for about four hours.
He said that four Fulani’s and two Gbagyi’s were killed while several women and children were injured.
He said that members of the community reported that the suspects, numbering about 50 and armed with dangerous weapons, stormed the community at about 7.00 a.m. shooting sporadically.
Mr. Jagaba said the cattle rustlers stole over 700 cattle and undisclosed number of goats and sheep before fleeing the community.
He said the attack came barely three weeks after nine people were killed in a similar incident in Kurebe and Kwaki Chukuba wards of Shiroro Local Government Area.
He said that normalcy had since returned to the area.
The chairman appealed to security agencies in the state to assist a vigilante group in the area to curtail cattle rustlers and indiscriminate killings of innocent lives.
Confirming the attack, Bala Elkana, the Police Public Relations Officer, said that two suspects had been arrested while efforts were on to apprehend the others.
He said the command was yet to ascertain the actual number of cattle rustled by the attackers.
He said that the police had beefed up security within the community and its environs.
He said the police anti-cattle rustling team is searching the forest through which the invaders escaped.
Meanwhile, suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly sack four villages in Chawai Chiefdom of Kamaru Ward in Kauru local government in Kaduna state, killing at least 31 people.
Daily Trust reports that the attackers raided the villages at about 5:00pm on November 13 torching several houses and killing scores.
The source said the locals had information that the villages were going to be attacked and they warned the security agencies only for the gunmen to make good their threat by attacking the villages Sunday evening.
The four villages that suffered from the attacks are Ungwan Rimi, Kitakum, Ungwan Magaji and Kigam all in Kauru LGA. In one of the villages only two houses remained standing while the rest have been razed to the ground, the source said.

From Studio to Spotlight: Meet Espago, the 2025 Breakout Artist Shaping Afro‑Fusion

At 31, Lagos-born Espago is redefining what it means to be a late bloomer in the Nigerian music
space. After spending years as a chef, designer, and farmer, Espago turned to music just a year
ago on a journey sparked by deep loss, life experience, and self-discovery.
What makes him different? It’s not just his sound, it’s his story. Espago brings a calm but
confident energy that mirrors his Lagos upbringing: a blend of vibrant Fuji rhythms and soulful
Afrobeat traditions like King Sunny Ade, shaped by global legends like Michael Jackson and
Celine Dion. His voice? Professionally trained. His brand? Stylish, grounded, and intentional.
Espago didn’t wait for the industry to find him; he found his own way in, teaching himself,
searching out producers, and building his identity from scratch. With no major label backing and
no big-name features, he has still built a brand marked by boldness, emotion, and Lagos street
authenticity.
He’s not just making music; he’s building a lifestyle brand. His creative roots are in food,
fashion, and music fused into something richer than just a “sound.” It’s a full experience. While
he hasn’t performed live yet, he’s putting in the work behind the scenes, mentoring new artists,
recording regularly to sharpen his voice and brand for bigger stages ahead.
In a scene dominated by speed, Espago’s journey is about intentional growth, honest
expression, and emotional connection.
As the new class of Afro‑HipHop begins to take shape, Espago stands out not just for what he’s
making, but for who he is becoming.
