Miss Awanat Akinade-Fijabi, daughter of the great politician, Chief Akinade Fijabi on Sunday donated and distributed food relief items to the people of Akinyele Local Government in Oyo State.
The philanthropist out of her regular good gesture, and in a show of empathy to the plight of the less privileged toured the nooks and crannies of the local government while sharing several portable bags of food items such as rice, beans, garri, etc.
According to her, the exercise was imperative to ameliorate the pains of the less privileged who are worst hit by the pangs of the Coronavirus outbreak.
“Most of these people are daily wage earners. If you consider the effect of the several measures taken by the government in order to curb the spread of the pandemic in Oyo State, which is right in itself, you’ll realize that they earn lesser if at all right now. And this is why we all have to show empathy and camaraderie to the less privileged in our society’ she said noting that “one does not have to be everywhere to make a difference and charity begins at home”.
The exercise which coincided with the ongoing Easter celebration was a ray of sunshine amidst the storms of what already seemed to be a gloomy celebration. With a lot of people incapacitated and unable to afford a worthy celebration because their source of income has been dipped or closed down, this kindhearted gesture was nothing short of timely.
The relief distribution train toured several areas in Akinyele Local Government including Sasa, Ajibode, Ojoo, Moniya, Akinyele, Orogun among others.
Residents of the areas turned out en-masse to benefit from the kind gesture and showered encomiums and prayers for Miss Akinade-Fijabi.
