Afrobeat artist Jumaye connecting Nigerian roots to a global audience
Samuel Kufre, known by Jumaye, has always been deeply connected to music, using it as a bridge between his Nigerian roots and the world. Born in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, he has crafted a unique Afrobeat sound that mirrors his personal experiences and communicates stories that strike a chord with listeners across the globe.
His music journey began in 2019 when he adopted the name West. As he honed his skills, he embraced the ability of music to bridge cultures and break barriers. Over time, his sound evolved into something that blends traditional Nigerian Afrobeat rhythms with contemporary influences. This marked the start of a deeper exploration into the power of music to inspire, connect, and uplift.
A milestone in Jumaye’s career came with his first live performance. The stage was set, and as the crowd waited, he felt a mix of anticipation and nerves. However, as he immersed himself in the music, the energy from the audience transformed his nerves into confidence. The positive feedback from that performance confirmed to him that he was on the right path. “That performance showed me the power of music,” Jumaye recalls. It marked a turning point, solidifying his decision to pursue music full-time.
Jumaye’s music has earned a growing fanbase, with songs like “Sheeba X Balance,” which has been streamed over 20,000 times, serving as a testament to his dedication. His lyrics often stem from personal experiences, offering listeners a glimpse into his life while encouraging them to reflect on their journeys. These songs speak to universal emotions, helping him forge a connection with people from diverse backgrounds.
As he continues to evolve as an artist, Jumaye’s upcoming project, “For Days”, is set to reflect his artistic growth, exploring themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery. The project promises to be a reflection of his growth, both as a person and an artist. It will bring fresh sounds and deeper insights, expanding his reach to an even wider audience.
Despite the challenges of balancing his passion with the need for financial stability, Jumaye remains committed to his music career. He has faced the realities of the industry, but his focus on his artistry keeps him moving forward. Beyond his music, he has set his sights on giving back to his community, hoping to mentor aspiring artists and offer them the support he once needed.
Jumaye envisions his legacy as one that transcends geographical boundaries. His music aims to unite listeners across cultures while staying deeply rooted in his Nigerian heritage. He sees his platform not only as a way to share his art but as a means to promote African culture and inspire others to value the richness of their own backgrounds

Who Is Chinwe Zoe? The Nigerian Gospel Singer Behind “Undeniable

Chinwe Zoe, a Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter, began recording music in December 2025 after years of singing in church and at home. Less than a year later, she has released three singles, including “Chinwendum”, featuring gospel singer Frank Edwards, “Undeniable” and “Jesus Don Win”, her October 2026 release produced by Masterkraft.
For Zoe, the decision to record was connected to a personal experience that changed how she viewed her life and faith. She has described it as a near-death experience that left her with a renewed sense of gratitude. “In that moment, when I thought it was over, God showed me mercy,” she said. “He gave me victory. And that victory was too loud to keep inside.”
Her debut, “Chinwendum”, was released in December 2025 with Frank Edwards featured on the record. She followed it with “Undeniable” on May 7, 2026. The song’s official video has recorded more than 460,000 views on YouTube. In October, she released “Jesus Don Win”, produced by Masterkraft, with a video directed by Avalon Okpe.
Zoe’s approach to songwriting draws on personal experiences and scripture. She has said that she does not begin the process by searching for a melody, but by waiting for a message that she can develop into a song. She describes a process in which an experience or scripture stays with her until it takes musical form. The melody follows, and she hums it before committing anything to writing.
Her guiding principle is that a gospel song should be accessible to listeners while remaining suitable for congregational worship. “It should be simple enough for a child to sing and strong enough for a choir to carry,” she said.
Zoe has identified CeCe Winans, Nathaniel Bassey and Dunsin Oyekan among the musicians whose work has influenced her. She sings in English and Igbo, and occasionally in Pidgin, drawing on the worship tradition in her musical expression.
“Every song I sing comes from a place I have lived,” she said. “My pain taught me how to worship, my joy taught me how to praise.”
Her music has also begun attracting an online audience. Her YouTube channel has recorded more than 627,000 views across nine videos, while her Spotify monthly listeners have been reported at approximately 6,500. Her Audiomack profile is verified. Zoe records under her own imprint, H2 Records, with distribution through ONErpm. She made her first public performance at the 2026 Annual Virtuous Women Network conference in Enugu, where she performed “Undeniable”.
Outside music, she has spoken about her interest in soul winning and described it as connected to her musical work. She has also said that she wants her songs to encourage listeners facing difficult circumstances. “I want my songs to shift mindsets from worry to worship,” she said. “Whenever anxiety comes, whenever life tries to make you feel small, I want you to hear my sound in your spirit and declare victory over your life.”
