Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, singer songwriter Azeez Sanusi’s sound is reflective of his earliest musical influences, afrobeat legends Fela Kuti and King Sunny Ade, whose music was the soundtrack of his youth.

With a dash of Naija afrobeats, American hip hop, and southern blues, Azeez also credits artists like 2Face Idibia, Tupac, and Muddy Waters with inspiring the eclectic sound on his first EP. A talented vocalist, Azeez has been writing songs and singing since he was a teenager in Lagos.

He can’t remember a time when he didn’t have a tune in his head, or wasn’t jotting down song lyrics.

Now residing in Portland, Oregon by way of Lafayette, Louisiana, Azeez’s sound is the result of a life full of challenges and unique experiences. It was while in college in Louisiana pursuing degrees in computer engineering, that his love of music became a passion and creative outlet.

Life brought him to the Pacific Northwest upon completion of his PhD in Computer Engineering, and what started out as weekly jam sessions with his new network of Nigerian friends, became the catalyst to take his love of music to the next level.

Whether it’s his experiences traveling around the world or exploring the pacific northwest, his creativity is fed by the beauty of nature and surrounding himself with creative people.

Azeez’s first EP showcases his eclectic style and versatility with song “Renegade” mixing blues guitar riffs with bluesy vocals, and “Her groove” with an alternative sound that showcases his songwriting and vocal prowess.

Afropop artist Azeez Sanusi releases a summer anthem for the ladies “LIKE FIRE”. The song was produced by Ifx (ifiok David ) aka @IFXmusicpro and features rapper and day one hommie Bluwy(Akah Michael) @bluwymusic1, song was recorded in Lagos Nigeria and will be the first single to be released off his forthcoming EP, the mid-tempo melodious tune which debutes has had massive airplays on urban radio and tv and also had huge buzz on YouTube as well, the song will have you moving from the very first second.

Speaking about the new song, Azeez Sanusi says, “I feel really good about this record and I can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction when they press play.

They would definitely feel the buzz from the very second it plays … That for me will be satisfying…Really satisfying”
