Manchester United transfer news: David De Gea fee agreed, Mario Mandzukic close, Gregory Van Der Wiel expected to join
Manchester United officials are working hard behind the scenes to get some serious transfer business done – but they’re not having it all their own way.
Some major stars look like they’re going to leave or miss out on a move to Manchester, and the club are working hard to make sure Louis van Gaal has some quality additions in his squad for the start of the new seasons.
Here are the latest rumours coming out of Old Trafford:
David De Gea fee agreed with Real Madrid
Unfortunately, it looks like the probable is now the inevitable.
Spanish media reckon an £18.3million upfront fee plus £3.6m in bonus payments is about to be agreed, with Iker Casillas now understood to be leaving the Bernabeu too.
Getting such a sought-after keeper for a total of £21.9m would be a serious bargain for Madrid, and a real loss for United.
Mario Mandzukic close to signing

While this seems like a strange rumour on the face of it, it actually makes sense when you think about it.
Atletico Madrid were already set to offload the Croatian after he fell out with Diego Simeone, and they’re now on the cusp of signing strikers Luciano Vietto and Carlos Tevez anyway.
He’d also fit in with the physicality of the Premier League, and while his reported £36m fee is certainly a steep one, he’d be a great option upfront.
Gregory Van der Wiel expected to join
The Dutchman appears set to leave PSG – which is good timing given that United have missed out on Dani Alves.
Nathaniel Clyne also looks like he’ll slip through Van Gaal’s clutches, and Van der Wiel would be a good alternative.
He’s worked with LVG before, has Champions League experience and would be available for around £9million.
Good business if it happens.
