As soon as Mourinho sacking was announced, the French midfielder posted a smiling picture of himself and wrote ‘caption this’ which he then deleted 10 minutes later after over 64,000 people had liked it.
However, Pogba’s post prompted criticism from former Manchester United defender Gary Neville and his fellow Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.
Neville wrote on Twitter: ‘Caption this’ ‘You do one as well!’
Jamie Carragher also weighed in, replying to Neville: ‘Spot on! Plenty of clubs in Europe doing fine without him!!’
But it later posted that it was a scheduled post from adidas:
Confirmed by contact within @adidassoccer: "#Pogba's social media posts were a scheduled event, part of a marketing campaign. Immediately taken down once it became apparent that it could be misconstrued as disrespectful to Manchester United and José Mourinho"
