If you’re a fan of VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop franchise, then chances are you’ve noticed that most of the cast members ALWAYS seem to be in the studio – but not necessarily making huge moves in the music industry. Well that’s all changed with Cardi B.
The reality star/female emcee’s single, “Bodak Yellow” is making a huge splash, and just skyrocketed into the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. She’s the first female rapper whose debut single cracked the top 10 since Iggy Azaela’s “Fancy” did it back in 2014. It’s also the first solo female rap track (with no other featured artists) to chart that high since Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” did it back in 2014.
It’s not just hip hop records she’s coming for either. “Bodak Yellow” has made the fastest flight to the top 10 for a female solo debut since Meghan Trainor’s 2014 pop smash, “All About That Bass.”
If the song stays on this path, the regular degular shmegular girl from the Bronx will definitely have a #1 single on her hands. Congrats, Cardi!
