Patrice Evra fired by Marseille and suspended from Uefa club football for Seven months after kicking fan.

Former Manchester United star aimed a flying kick at supporter after disagreement before a match earlier this month.

It means Evra will be unable to compete in Uefa football matches until June 30 2018, and is now without a club after Marseille decided to part ways following the continental ban.

The bizarre incident occurred before Marseille’s Europa League match against Vitoria on November 3.

Evra lost his rag during the warm-up as a group of travelling Marseille fans started to hurl insults at him from the stands.

A melee then ensued which saw the fans and some players confront each other at the side of the pitch.

Evra, 36, then escaped the attention of his team-mates by darting around the back of them before launching his attack.

The veteran aimed a kung-fu kick which appeared to connect with the side of the head of one of the fans as the tensions blew up.

Supporters reacted angrily at Marseille’s next game, flying a number of banners urging Evra to leave the club.

But the player appears to be refusing to back down after joining the Ligue 1 side less than a year ago from Juventus.

Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud said: “Today there is great sadness at the club, above all for Patrice Evra, who well understands the consequences of his actions and is no longer able to undertake his passion at Marseille.

“And for the Marseille supporters, who have been stigmatised by the irresponsible behaviour of a handful of fans.

“Despite this incident, we are determined more than ever to demonstrate on and off the field that we are driven by the highest individual and collective standards.”
