Former Liverpool, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid striker, Fernando Torres has ended speculation about his future by joining Japanese club Sagan Tosu.

The move for the 34-year-old Spaniard comes after his Atletico Madrid contract ran out this summer and was not renewed.

I am joining up next week and hoping to start as soon as possible with my new team-mates, playing games and scoring goals,’ Torres continued.

‘I hope to make my debut, at home, on July 21. I hope to be there for many years. It will depend on my sporting performance.’

Torres, a World Cup and European Championship winner was part of Chelsea’s Champions League-winning team in 2012. He scored 126 goals in 314 matches in an eight-year spell in English football, including four years with Liverpool when he scored 81 times in only 142 games.
