Djokovic defeats Federer to retain Wimbledon title

Novak Djokovic has won his third Wimbledon title, after he beat Roger Federer in Sunday’s final.

 It took the world number one two hours and 56 minutes, but he eventually triumphed 7-6 6-7 6-4 6-3 over Federer, who was seeking his 8th win on hard court.

Djokovic becomes the first male tennis player, to retain the singles title there since Federer did so in 2007. He also matched the hat-trick of victories here achieved by his coach Boris Becker.

The 28-year-old is now the fifth man in history to claim nine Grand Slam titles after Bjorn Borg, Rafa Nadal, Federer and Pete Sampras.
