Cheick Tiote, Former Newcastle Midfielder Collapses, Dies In China

Former Newcastle midfielder, Cheick Tiote, has collapsed and died in China.

The 30-year-old Ivorian who moved to Beijing Enterprises, was rushed to hospital after he slumped in training, where he was pronounced dead.


BBC reporter, Tim Hague, confirmed the sad news on his Twitter account:

“BREAKING: Ex @NUFC midfielder Cheick Tioté has collapsed during training with Beijing Enterprises and has subsequently died. Aged 30.”

The club is yet to make a statement on Tiote’s death.

Tiote’s former team-mate at Newcastle, Demba Ba, tweeted: “may Allah gives grant you jannah brother Tiote.”

    Cheick Tiote was such a powerful player. Very touch to play against and passionate about winning. He was also a fighter in midfield anyday and anytime. He will be greatly missed in the football world. May his soul rest in peace. newsaddup.com
